Kristina Marquez, MSc, RYT 200 - Director of Movement Arts
After graduating from the Commercial Dance Department at OCSA (’08) and UC Santa Barbara (’12), Ms. Marquez earned a Masters of Science degree in Dance Science from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London. She has held numerous positions within the Entertainment Department at The Walt Disney Company and has served as a Talent Recruiter and Production Assistant for RAW Artists in both Los Angeles and in London. Previously, Ms. Marquez was the Dance Team Director at Cal Poly Pomona, and has instructed at numerous dance organizations including Millennium Dance Complex Orange County, Endeavor School of the Arts, and Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA).
Since starting at Mater Dei in 2016, Ms. Marquez has helped grow the Movement Arts programs to now serve over 125 students through our Yoga Program, Dance Electives (I-IV), Honors Dance Company, Song-leading & Color Guard Teams. Students have since had educational & performance opportunities such as:
-Receiving scholarships to work with companies like BODYTRAFFIC and Dance Atak
-Had their work selected for presentation at the Teen Choreography Festival
-Participate with HALO Dance 4 Autism
-CADTD State Champions (All Male Hip Hop)
-OC Varsity Artist of the Year Semi-Finalist (alum Dante Casarin, '20)
-Traveled to Los Cabos, Mexico to partake in the prestigious Gala De Danza philanthropic event, working directly with underprivileged youth and performing at the Gala
-Selected to perform at the Laguna Dance Festival Spring Soiree event
-Learned from industry leaders at the DancerPalooza Convention & SI Hip Hop Camp
-Hosted over 800 dancers from local studios, junior & high schools at our annual Mater Dei Dance Classic Competition
-Refined their teaching & leadership skills through our Mini Monarch Dance Camps
-Gone on to prestigious collegiate teams & dance programs such as CSUF, CSULB, & Gonzaga University
Christina Papandrea - Movement Arts Teacher/Assistant
Christina Papandrea is an Australian born triple threat. She moved to Massachusetts at the age of six, and to California at the age of thirteen, actively training in dance, music, and acting, as well as performing in both locations. She attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), Los Angeles, earning her BFA in Dance Theater. Now, Christina is represented by Go2Talent agency, actively works in regional theater productions, as well as choreographing and teaching dance at a high school level in Orange County. Christina has always been able to use her passion in the arts to inspire her students and audiences. Her smiley and optimistic personality are driven from her goal to always influence her students to succeed in dance and beyond.
Aubrey Price - Song Team Head Coach
Aubrey Catherine Price is an alumna of California State University, Long Beach where she graduated with honors with a Masters of Arts degree in Dance Education and holds a BA in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. Before taking over the Song program at Mater Dei in 2013 she was an adjunct faculty member of the Theater and Dance Departments at Cypress College and Fullerton College where she taught modern, jazz, and hip hop classes. Mrs. Price has over twenty years experience coaching at the high school and collegiate level. Since taking over the program at Mater Dei, Mrs. Price has received both USA and NDA National titles for the program at the JV and Varsity level.
Her choreography has been performed locally and internationally at the International school of Bangkok and multiple American College Dance Festivals across the country. Over the past twenty years, Mrs. Price has been a judge for multiple dance events at the high school, collegiate and professional level. During college, she performed and competed with Team Millennia, Coast All Stars and her college dance company across the country. She is also a member of the Varsity Dance Cast, where she meets yearly with other high school and collegiate dance team coaches from around the country to provide consultation for all Varsity dance brands in regards to scoresheets, summer camps, event venues, etc.
Kai Cameron - Hip Hop Team Head Coach
Born and raised in Orange County, Kai started training in hip hop at the age of 12. Getting most of his training from the Poreotics, season 5 winners of America’s Best Dance Crew, he has spent most of his 10-year career within the competitive dance world. He has shared choreography with worldwide competitive teams such as Poreotics, Miniotics, Chapkis Dance Family, V Mo, Supremacy Dance Family, and LFG Crew.
